The Relations between Sciatic Nerve and Piriformis Muscle in Koreans

Abstract
|
|
|
We studied the relations between sciatic nerve and piriformis muscle on the 240 lower extremities of Korean i infants and Korean adults.
The types and occurrence of various relations between sciatic nerve and piriformis muscle are as follows;
A. Sciatic nerve passes below the piriformis muscle 74. 1%
B. The component of fibularis communis nerve passes through-.piriformis muscle 21.7%
C. The Component of fibularis communis nerve passes above piriformis muscle 3. 8%
D. The whole sciatic nerve passes through piriformis muscle 0.4%
We further revealed that in 64.1% of all material has normal relation between sciatic nerve and piriformis i muscle on both sides and in 20% has normal relation between sciatic nerve and piriformis muscle on only one
side and in 15.8% has abnormal relation between sciatic nerve and piriformis muscle on both sides....-among i them showed symmetrical abnormal relations in 10.8%
The sexual difference on the relation between sciatic nerve and piriformis muscle has marked appearance in male materials.
The occurring difference between both sides on the normal relations between sciatic nerve and piriformis muscle cannot be recognizable.
